The TIM-PN can be used in field bus-based automation and control systems such as in test benches for electric motors, combustion engines, gears, pumps and compressors. It allows very fast and precise real-time communication and offers high performance and bandwidth.
Besides the classical output signals such as frequency and voltage, HBM torque transducers also provide a TMC (Torque Measurement Communication) digital interface at the stator. Torque transducers can be used flexibly. They can be integrated into automation and control systems via both the classical signals and modern Ethernet-based fieldbus technology such as PROFINET. Integration is based on the modular and highly flexible TIM-PN interface concept.
Thanks to the intercommunication functionality, different fieldbuses can be interconnected. The PROFINET-IRT expansion of the TIM-PN thus can also be connected to the EtherCAT module of the same family. Users can now use all signals provided by a torque transducer in two different bus systems/networks, without any loss of performance.
